“A Twist” - Receiving everything for doing nothing.

John 13:1-17
Receive his L.O.V.E. - Love. Oversight. Victory. Energy.
Love – Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails.
1 Corinthian 13:4-8
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16
Oversight – Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Psalm 100:3
If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me, "even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalm 139:11-18
Victory – I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." Energy – You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
Romans 8:9-11
I believe that most of us don’t really understand who GOD is, who JESUS is, and the SPIRIT is…because we have never truly received from him: “Who He Is”. Which is “LOVE”
Question: How do I begin to understand who He is, His LOVE?
Receive this T.I.P.
1. Truth. Bible, a good start. Read the book of John (4th Gospel in the NT).
2. Intimacy. Small group relationships, if you are in one then you understand what I mean. God shows up in small groups. Time and again in the Bible God shows up in small pockets of people and reveals who he is.
3. Provision. Pray. Ask God to provide you with his understanding and insight.
You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.
James 4:2
If we did understand who God, Jesus, and the Spirit really were, I think many things would be different in our lives.
Anxiety, self-worth, purpose/direction in life, knowing what the future holds, service to the “least of these”,
Question: How do we receive his LOVE?: Like Peter
First we must understand that receiving is the number one step of a believer in Christ. If we do not receive first from Christ, we cannot have a healthy perspective on what it means to be loved or to love. We have nothing to give if we have not received first. How can anyone give away something that they have never received? The same is true, how can anyone be in a healthy place if health has not been given.
Most of us are struggling in this life because we have a skewed view of the eternal life that is offered to us in Christ. How can he love me? His grace is not sufficient for me. I am worthless. I have screwed up one to many times. How?
Rest assured that he does love you and he wants you to know him. But he can not force you or better put, he will never force you into a relationship with him. It is your choice and will always be.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3:17-19
Let Christ wash your…feet. Let him take the very grim of your life and cleanse you. Repent of your individual desires and allow him to set you free in himself. Receiving from God is about doing one thing and one thing only. Nothing. Let, God do his work on your heart, be open to a rebirth of heart. Let Christ serve you first. Stand underneath the water fall of Christ’s love for you.

From Luke 10:25-37 – A Twist – what about the beaten man.
What did the man who was beaten do for his own healing to occur? Nothing.
What will the man who was beaten do for someone in the future who is beaten? Everything and more that was done to him.
Let us “Breathe Deep” the Spirit of God.
Let us Lock Arms in interdependent community.
Let us “Run to Battle” by first receiving the LOVE of God first.

Mundane Celebrations
Limited language skills
Sacred Cow Rituals
Animated Super Heroes
The same old songs
Our Worship styles
Our limited Vision, Spiritual cataracts
Our Idolatry of Holy days
Let us use the keys which we possess as a community to free ourselves from the present dungeons of mediocrity, unevenness, poorness, weakness, and pitchiness that indwells the halls of our hearts
Here are the Keys:
We need to become a village of Interdependence
We need new Celebrations
We need new Language
We need new Rituals
We need new Heroes and Sheroes
We need new songs
We need new liturgy (styles of Worship)
We need new Eyes
We need new Holidays (Holy Days)
We need more Holy Ground.

1. Breathe deep:
John 13 – Washing of the disciple’s feet
II Cor. 3:18: 18And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
We are being transformed into his likeness with ever increasing glory that comes from the Lord who is the Spirit (breath)…ever-increasing glory from the breath of God.
We tend to drink in revelation (from scripture…and nature) only in short, quick breaths…taking him in only so far…not allowing him to completely change us and make us different. More like Christ.
2. Lock arms:
Acts 2 - The Fellowship of the Believers – Community - 42They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. 3. Run to the Battle:
1 Samuel 17:48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword.
Fight the good Fight – 1 Timothy 6:12

CSF 2008-09 Mission Update
The Mission of CSF UP is simple and to the point. It has a three-pronged approach. First, we must be a people who Breathe Deep. Every participant in CSF is encouraged and challenged to release their will to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit and to allow God to take them to maturity in their faith and walk. Second, we must all Lock Arms. We need each other. CSF has always been defined by people who experience community in the name and under the leadership of Jesus Christ. Community, small groups, unity in diversity, and accountability are crucial to each of us becoming who we were meant to be. Finally, the third prong is Run to the Battle. Jesus said go…across the street and around the world. This is not the work of a special group of CSF but the fellowship as a whole. Prayerfully, our commitment to going to the people and fighting for souls will keep us focused on our goal, rather than being distracted by the temptation to become inwardly focused.
There is a spiritual war underway that defines our calling. We will breathe deep the Spirit of God, lock arms with one another, and run to the battle…our central purpose, as a fellowship of believers is to hear and respond decisively to our orders as they are given. May God grant us steadiness in our resolve.

"You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus," she said. 68But he denied it. "I don't know or understand what you're talking about," he said, and went out into the entryway
(John 18:15-18)Peter's Denys - 15Simon Peter and another disciple were following Jesus. Because this disciple was known to the high priest, he went with Jesus into the high priest's courtyard, 16but Peter had to wait outside at the door. The other disciple, who was known to the high priest, came back, spoke to the girl on duty there and brought Peter in. 17"You are not one of his disciples, are you?" the girl at the door asked Peter. He replied, "I am not."18It was cold, and the servants and officials stood around a fire they had made to keep warm. Peter also was standing with them, warming himself.
(Matthew 26:71-75)Peter's Denys 3 times - 71Then he went out to the gateway, where another girl saw him and said to the people there, "This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth."72He denied it again, with an oath: "I don't know the man!" 73After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, "Surely you are one of them, for your accent gives you away."74Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, "I don't know the man!" Immediately a rooster crowed. 75Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: "Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." And he went outside and wept bitterly.
Acts 4:8-12 – What kind of Power you got? Soul Power
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! 9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 11 He is “ ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
John 7:37-39a On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this he meant the Spirit....
1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?
The Holy Spirit is in you. He is the “Spirit of life” (Romans 8:2).
Ephesians 5:18-19 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:14 ...those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
Acts 4:31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Acts 1:5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.... (8) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
